On my second month of being a nurse trainee, I was assigned to the Nursery. These days we rarely have patients because of the new rooming-in policy and it’s not yet the birthing season, as our staff nurses would call it. Earlier today, a few minutes before my shift ended, a newborn kept on crying for quite a long time after an uneventful (and I swear it was painful) blood extraction. More annoyed than being concerned, I help her up into my arms and swayed her rhythmically until she stopped crying. What made me all soft and emotional was when she smiled at me and attempted to give me a hug with her short little arms. It was a very surreal moment and I swear it made me want to have my own child. Maybe not now, but soon. I wanted to bring her home. Someday, I’ll have my own :D
